Our sixth formers are looking for a school that not only provides an excellent academic education but also develops their character, leadership qualities and independence. Our students assist in the running of the boarding houses (Coombe, Lisbury and Macmillan), becoming important members of the pastoral team. There are a wide variety of ways in which a student can contribute - not all wish to take on a prefect’s role but a commitment to the house community is expected. The increased self-confidence gained as a result of being a valued member of the house community often helps academic achievement and the school views the development of these skills as integral to the boarding experience and a valuable step in the development of our young adults.
Accommodation is in single or double rooms giving good study facilities. We place a good deal of trust in our Sixth Formers giving them more freedom of movement and self-responsibility in recognition of their age and contribution to the school. Sixth form boarding is a good stepping stone allowing students to acquire the skills needed to look after themselves at university and beyond but in a protected and supportive environment.
